- Since the year is winding down, I've been doing a lot of reflecting. I've been mulling over 2012 and dreaming up new things for 2013. The main thing is I like new habits I've taken on in regards to organizing and documenting photos and events throughout the year. I think categorizing month by month is the way to go for me.
- I fell more into reading and out of crafting. Reading makes me happy and takes me to so many different places, but that causes me to leave behind the world I actually live in. I need to find a way to combine the two for maximum living.
-Today is the first day I have been super motivated to find a new job. Things have been piling up at work (in terms of things I hate) so I spiffed up my resume this evening and plan to shove it in the face of everyone I encounter.

Well so much for that month.
I can't really say what I did besides read an amazing 5-book series (The Parasol Protectorate) and watch millions of episodes of Doctor Who, but I can assure you that those two gems did not take up the entire month.
At least I have two Christmas presents purchased.

As you know, the tombstone brownies did not work out but the regular frosted brownies I took to work were still a big hit. It was so hard to get any work done; the office was buzzing with the excitement of Halloween. Only a handful of us dressed up- I went as Frida and there was also a lumberjack, nun, referee, the scary guy from the Saw movies, and an overworked "zombie" employee. Several coworkers brought their kids in and it was so fun to see them dressed up. After work I went to a friend's house in the hopes of seeing more trick-or-treaters but only one showed up. It had been rainy all day- I suppose it was a combination of that and a miss neighborhood? We had a festive dinner of Halloween-shaped macaroni and cheese and mummy hot dogs. The next day I watched Young Frankenstein for the first time. I don't know how I missed this one for so long while being such a lover of Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
I hope everyone had a magical Halloween! I have overdone candy to the point of craving real and healthy food. It was so bad that I didn't feel guilty taking potato chips as a snack because they at least started out as potatoes...

Since starting a desk job I have taken an interest in Desktop calendars. After a bit of searching and stumbling, I have a few great sources to choose from each month. Here's what I've found so far:
Also, Dear Friend had a great calendar for October but has not released one for November yet. Do you use a monthly desktop calendar?

I almost had a Halloween meltdown tonight. My cutout cookies wouldn't stop expanding (am I the only one?! They're my baking achilles heel) so I couldn't make tombstone brownies for the potluck at work tomorrow, I have the wrong size glue sticks for my new hot glue gun (way to go Michaels for having them on the same power wing), and I almost couldn't squeeze out the very last of my super glue. I got the glue out but I also now have half of it on my thumbs and index fingers. But all is well! The regular brownies are packed and ready to go along with my Halloween outfit for work tomorrow and I have practiced my unibrow makeup for the morning.
Happy Halloween Eve everyone!!!

I was reminded today that I never reposted the Pay It Forward challenge (I only call it that because it took me soo long to repost this). I found out about it/entered on Linn's blog, Lyckoland. If you are unfamiliar with her blog, it is filled with beautiful pictures and Swedish goodness so I highly recommend taking a look. Here we go!
- The first three commenters will receive a handmade gift (or gifts) from me. Tell me your favorite
color. I'll mail it out by the end of January (with Christmas coming, you know).
- Please repost on your blog! This is so much fun, let's share the excitement!
- Everyone is welcome to enter. I am willing to ship anywhere. Leave your email address in the
comment so I can contact you.

This is how we spent pretty much all day Saturday and the early parts of Sunday. I did manage to knock quite a few things off of my to-do list this afternoon which made me happy. I finally got around to making the Fall Leaves Garland from A Beautiful Mess! It turned out great and I can't wait to find the perfect place to put it.
My mom visited the 18th through the 24th and this is a picture of most of the things she either brought me or we shopping for together while she was here. Minus the cat butt. It's hard to believe it was 10 months since I last saw her and I still have two more months to go before I can see my dad.
#1 goal for 2013: Don't let that happen again.
Nora only cuddles with me on Saturday and Sunday mornings and it sure is a treat. I guess I wake up too early for her during the week. I don't blame her.
I didn't want to post pictures with quality such as these, but I switched computers and I don't have iPhoto on this one to edit and make pretty. It's killing me! Lately I have been super obsessed with Doctor Who, Homeland, and Once Upon a Time. Homeland constantly blows me away because it's definitely not a type of show I'm usually interested in but it's just SO GOOD. Doctor Who is a new favorite and I'm having fun slooowly watching all of the (newer) episodes. The fact that the main characters change all the time keeps it really fresh and interesting for me. Each time I've experienced a doctor change I've had to take a week or two to process everything and prepare myself for the new one. Once Upon a Time- this one always amazes me at which fairy tale character they will throw in next. Their writers know no bounds!
In the next few weeks I am excited to try out some new fall recipes, continue to work out a new/better way to organize my photos, make a few more crafts, and hopefully see some friends.

On September first I decided to celebrate the Halloweeny season in this month as well as October. There are just too many things to fit into one month. Here are a few things I can't wait to do:
Have a fall get together. Nothing too fancy, just a few friends, some apple cider, and pumpkin treats galore.
Find a great Halloween Costume. We don't have a Halloween party lined up yet, but I still need something great to wear to work!
Make pumpkin spice donuts!
...and pumpkin pie fudge brownie bars...
...and a pumpkin pie milkshake. Made with a slice of pumpkin pie. >.<
Track down pumpkin hershey kisses. Hopefully I won't have to buy them online, I couldn't find them last year and that's one year too long.
I've also been trying a lot of new dinner recipes from Pinterest lately. Here are a few of our new favorites:
Spaghetti and Meatball cups,
a Cheesy Enchilada Stack,
and Crispy Oven-Fried Drumsticks. I also used this recipe for chicken breasts and fish sandwiches!
What are you looking forward to this fall?
